Hopefully.
I spent the last couple weeks going through my vast unsorted collection and did two things – added a bunch of Understanding Yearbooks, now up to 78 and a bunch of other books that I had purchased over the past decade but had never made it here. The total number of books is now over three hundred, yah!
I also completed a second set of Understanding Newsetters, going from 1956 to 1979 with only a few missing from 1958. There is also now a complete set of yearbooks going from 1956 to 1971, which may be the last year they were produced.
Perhaps the biggest change is I went crazy with QR codes:

For each book, yearbook and a few other miscellaneous materials in my collection I added QR codes to each that link them back to their listing on this website. One of the problems I had previously is that if I had a book listed on this website, trying to find it was near impossible because each “product” on the website only listed the box it was in, and the records were incomplete. With the QR cods, I have put all the same types of books together in the same box and with the QR codes, you can find the “authentic.DFDC”(TM) listing that goes with it.
I also standardized and cleaned up the URLs to list the year then name to make them easier to track. I also added extra listings and correct spellings for the German language variations which confusingly have both an English and German title.
It was really neat to see how unique the patina could be for each book.
- Two yearbooks with amazing water stains on them – here and here.
- A White Sands Incident with a real coffee cup stain!
- To Men of Earth with interesting scattered marks on the cover
I have lots of outstanding projects for authentic.DFDC:
- I want to get all of AFU’s and Eric Erpelding’s Daniel Fry books listed on this website. I will be sending out the invite emails in a week or I look forward to increasing the number of items tracked.
- I have a bunch of personal materials from Fry’s estate that I want to add that easily will add another couple hundred listings, everything from defunct stock certificates in “NICE” to personal papers.
- I want to “public” proof this site by have it automatically reduce the quality of the pictures and remove pictures with signatures for the public.
- Create a $100/year membership that allows members to access to quarterly newsletters and access to the higher quality pictures and signatures.
Oh, and I added this news section. Might as well keep track of new additions and changes.
